Justin Wilson Staying With Coyne

Dale Coyne doesn’t like to make a big deal about his team signing a driver. That’s just his nature of business, and how he has always gone about it. As the IndyCar series gets set to kick off the 2013 season, it was officially announced that he has reached an agreement on a 3-year contract extension with Justin Wilson. This will be Coyne’s 30th season in the open wheel series.

Wilson sounded very optimistic about his future with the team. “In evaluating Dale’s commitment to the sport, we have signed a long-term agreement,” Wilson said, “We had a great season last year highlighted by our first win at an oval track in Texas. The entire team is coming back, so I am expecting good things to happen this year.”

The British driver will turn 35 later this year, but is coming off of a productive season in 2012. He won the race at Texas, and scored 6 top-ten finishes in 15 total races last year. He finished in 7th place in the Indianapolis 500, which tied a career best. It is believed that the contract that was signed also includes a future team option on Wilson.
