Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing has announced that they will field a second car in this year’s Indianapolis 500. The driver for that car will be popular Canadian racer Alex Tagliani. He and Josef Newgarden will give the Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing team a mix of young talent and veteran experience for this year’s event in May. Tagliani won the pole for the 2011 Indianapolis 500 when he was driving for Sam Schmidt Motorsports.

This will be the sixth time Tagliani will attempt to race in the Greatest Spectacle in Racing. He has finished 11th, 10th, 28th, 12th, and 24th respectively. He also won the Indianapolis 500 Rookie of The Year award in 2009 with his 11th place finish, after starting in last (33rd) position.

“I am very excited about this opportunity with Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing for this year’s Indy 500,” Tagliani said in a statement. “I love this race, and this track has always been a comfortable fit for me. I couldn’t ask for a better opportunity with SFHR, and I will do my best to contribute to the success of the team.”
