Another Indy 500 ride confirmation came today from Andretti Autosport, as they officially announced that Marco Andretti will be back with the team in May. The third-generation driver will attempt to make his 250th career IndyCar start at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, as he seeks that elusive 500 victory. This would be Marco’s 17th career start at Indy, where he has led a total of 141 laps. The 2020 Indy 500 pole sitter finished 2nd in his rookie year and has five top-four finishes in this race.

This is the team’s fifth entry for the event, joining the four full-time drivers of Colton Herta, Alexander Rossi, Romain Grosjean, and Devlin DeFrancesco. They will not be fielding a sixth entry this season, which leaves one Honda engine lease available if someone wants it. Marco will be participating in the big “Open Test” on the IMS oval on April 20. Returning behind the wheel with Andretti Herta Autosport with Marco Andretti and Curb-Agajanian, Andretti is set to make his 17th Indy 500 start. Over the 16 starts, Andretti has recorded eight top-10 finishes and four podium results, additionally earning the Indianapolis 500 pole position in 2020. He will look to capitalize on his experience at the famed 2.5-mile oval and achieve his first Indianapolis 500 victory.

The No. 98 Honda and Marco Andretti will return to the track for Open Testing on April 20, ahead of the official Indianapolis 500 opening day on May 17. The 106th Running of the Indianapolis presented by Gainbridge will be seen on May 29 with live coverage on NBC.
