The Verizon IndyCar Series kicks off the 2017 season in less than two weeks.
All eight teams are taking part in the final pre-season test at Sebring International Raceway today and tomorrow. While there is no race on the challenging course, it is an excellent representation of the many road and street circuits on the schedule. The only team that did not participate today was Andretti Autosport, as they will test all day tomorrow.
Veteran Sebastien Bourdais was not scheduled to test today, but his Dale Coyne Racing teammate Ed Jones did, using his Rookie Test Day. Schmidt Peterson Motorsports has three drivers that are making their IndyCar test debut; Robert Wickens, Luis Felipe Derani, and Luis Michael Dorrbecker.
The team also unveiled a new livery for Mikhail Aleshin.
It was another busy day for Graham Rahal and the RLL Racing crew. Earlier this morning, the team announced a renewed partnership with Fifth Third Bank as an associate sponsor. Graham is expected to join IMS President Doug Boles for a special announcement on Thursday regarding the IndyCar Grand Prix.
AJ Foyt Racing has been going through many changes, with new team personnel, two new drivers, and making the switch to Chevrolet. Both Carlos Munoz and Conor Daly are encouraged by the progress they have made so far.
Below are some photos from the test, and another visor cam video with Rahal, courtesy of IndyCar. The Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg is March 12, with coverage beginning at Noon ET on ABC.
