IndyCar Testing Heats Up

Three teams and seven drivers spent valuable time at Phoenix International Raceway today, as part of a Chevrolet manufacturer test. The foursome of Team Penske (Will Power, Helio Castroneves, Juan Montoya, Simon Pagenaud) were joined by Ed Carpenter and Josef Newgarden of Ed Carpenter Racing, and KVSH driver Sebastien Bourdais. Several drivers have tested at Phoenix already, and the big Promoter Test will take place on February 26th and 27th.

Below are some of the many social media posts made today.

Castroneves and Pagenaud are scheduled to be at Sonoma Raceway on Wednesday, where they will be joined by Chip Ganassi’s four-car team of Scott Dixon, Tony Kanaan, Charlie Kimball, and Max Chilton. This will also be a Chevrolet manufacturer day test. The good news is that the test will be open to the public, with free admission!

Kanaan’s livery for this season was unveiled earlier today by the team.

In addition to the Sonoma test on Wednesday, a few Honda drivers will be testing about 450 miles south, at Auto Club Speedway. Ryan Hunter-Reay and Carlos Munoz will be there with Andretti Autosport, in addition to former Andretti and current Schmidt Peterson Motorsports driver James Hinchcliffe. On Saturday, Chilton will be at Auto Club Speedway to take his Rookie Oval Test.
