IndyCar unveiled the 2015 season schedule today, 129 days ahead of the first race, which is an international race in Brazil.
The season opens on March 8th, on the Autódromo Internacional Nelson Piquet road course in the Brazil capital of Brasilia. The race will begin at 11 AM ET on NBC Sports Network. The final race of the season will be August 30, in Sonoma California. The last time the open wheel series ended on a road course was 2007, in Mexico City.
There are a total of 17 races, with the only double-header event taking place at Belle Isle. There are six ovals, six road courses, and four street circuits. ABC will televise six events, at three venues. They get the St Petersburg race on March 29, the GP of Indy, Indy 500 and quals, and the two races in Detroit. NBC Sports Network will have the remaining 12 races. The first aero kits will be used at St Pete. There are two new venues for 2015, the race in Brazil, and the NOLA Motorsports Park in New Orleans, which takes place on April 12. There will be an aero kit open test at Barber on March 16 & 17.
The Month of May at Indianapolis begins with the Angie’s List Grand Prix of Indy on May 9. Qualifying for the 99th Indianapolis 500 takes place on May 16 & 17, with the race set for May 24.
