The CFH Racing team announced this morning that Luca Filippi will be driving the No. 20 car on the non-ovals this season, taking over the same role that Mike Conway filled last year. The Italian driver has competed in eight IndyCar events over the past two seasons.
“It’s a great feeling. I can’t wait to race and share the No. 20 with Ed (Carpenter) this year,” said Filippi, who will join teammate Josef Newgarden for testing February 3 – 4 at Sebring. “I have to thank Ed, Fuzzy’s Vodka and CFH Racing for this fantastic opportunity and I look forward to the successes we will enjoy this season.” He went on to talk about working with his new teammates. “Josef will be a very strong teammate to work with on the road and street courses. I’m looking forward to learning from him and watching Ed on the ovals as well.”
Carpenter is confident that Filippi is the right many for the job. “We have seen the potential that Luca has shown over the past two seasons in his limited races and we feel that he will allow us to continue to compete for wins. I cannot wait to get the season started so we can work toward our goal of claiming the entrant points championship.”
The 2015 season begins on March 29, at St Petersburg.
